I’ve decided to toss up a gallery really quick to show some of my friends and family how I spent my Easter this year (which Daniela and I used as a much needed mini stay-cation).We did some yard work and gardening that we have been meaning to do for long awhile. On a side note procrastination = a dead Ivy. Once that was done I was finally able to break out the BBQ pit I received last X-mas from my brother and his wife (www.safun.com) for a test run! All in all it was an amazing day filled with good times, people, and food.
On a side note, today I entered in my office’s “Biggest Loser” style competition and I’m in it to win it! I have been working to lose some weight that I gained from being lazy and inactive and now I’m even more motivated to step it up. Right now Im holding at about 242.5lbs and my goal is to get to the average weight for a 6″4′ male which is about 190lbs. Ill be tracking my progress here for every weigh in (haha, I figure I need to use this blog for something huh?). Any tips and words of encouragement are greatly appreciated!

So yesterday while I was out and about I came across an adoption event for the new Helotes Humane Society, so I stopped to take a look. I browsed about the pups that of course got the most attention and came across the best looking dog I had ever seen, she is a mid sized brindle Plott Hound
.

I spoked with one of the ladies that was in charge of the shelter and she said that she had been a rescue from an abusive home and was almost put down because she wasn’t eating in he shelter. It turns out the reason she wasn’t eating is because was extremely submissive to the other dogs and would often be the last to eat and have little to nothing to eat. While I was checking out the dog one thing I noticed is that when I was around she would perk up and come close to the cage, but when someone else would she would just lay back down. That was when I knew I had to save this dogs life. So I asked the adoption fee and for the papers that needed to be filled out, I paid 125 cash and got ready to take home my new friend. She came complete with all her shots, spade, the new microchip they’re putting in pets for tracking, bag of science diet dog food, a toy, collar, leash, and training treats.
Now named Asuka, my dog has been in her new home for about a day now and I can tell she is already much happier than she was before. She is very skinny and more then likely under nourished, but I will do all in my power to get her back to the healthy hound she should have been.
At times when you are looking to get a new pet it is easy to over look those that really need homes. Pets that have been abused or have gone unloved an unwanted. When you’re looking to make the choice to get a pet save a life and stop by an adoption service or an animal shelter.
